Your Child is our Priority

Here at Flying Start Day Nursery, we have a good understanding of children's lives and their social contexts, basing our teaching around them. Supporting and encouraging personality development, autonomy and creativity are top priorities for us. Developing social interaction and understanding differences in others also plays an important role in our work. We also support you, the parent, in bringing up your child.

Our motto: working together, we make your child stronger!

Every effort will be made in the Nursery to ensure that attention is paid to the individual needs of the child, we feel that all children have the need for life, stability and security of varying degrees, they are the foundation for other needs and it is hoped to satisfy these needs by excellent staff we have chosen (some who have been with us since we opened in March 1993) by the organisation of the nursery and good management.

Flying Start is a Christian Nursery and as such follow the Christian Festivals; although we actively promote diversity and equality by embracing other cultures and their festivals.

It is important that your child settles into nursery life from the beginning.  It is a set of new experiences amongst many new adults and children, for some children it will be the first time away from home.

A Typical Day at Flying Start Day Nursery

A daily routine gives children a sense of security. This is why we ensure each day is properly structured while leaving enough time for spontaneous activities.

A variety of activities are set out at the beginning of each session, children are "encouraged" to take part in activities of their own choice.  This is only an example of the daily routine. Mealtimes, register and story times take place at set times.  Staffs seek to ensure that each child experiences all types of activities during the course of a month.

Topics are child led and are established through activities called 'Topic Boxes'.  These allow children to explore and develop their own ideas and thoughts.
